Short Story Course 12 Feb-19 March 10:30am to 12:30pm

All levels very welcome

12 Feb to 19 March six week course

10:30 am-12:30pm Saturdays live online

Join Isha Karki for a deep dive into the short story! Whether you’ve always wanted to write short stories or whether you want focussed time to write more this course is for you!

We’ll examine how to create deft worldbuilding, play with time and voices, experiment with form and structure, and meld the real with the uncanny, mythic and monstrous to shape compelling stories.

Over the course of six weeks, we’ll focus on elements of craft and consider experimental approaches to the short story through generative exercises and the study of contemporary writers. We’ll examine brilliant writing from authors such as Carmen Maria Machado, Julia Armfield, Lesley Nneka Arimah, Nibedita Sen and Sofia Samatar.

Reading will be circulated in advance and each two hour session will feature discussion on the week’s topic and related writing exercises. All in the supportive and encouraging space that Write like a Grrrl is known for! So what are you waiting for?

Teaching will be live via Zoom in a small workshop group
