Ekphrastic Writing Workshop

writing inspired by visual art

ignite-inspire-thrive

Saturday 3rd Sept

10am-12noon online

Ekphrastic writing is a vivid way of re-creating and entering a descriptive dialogue with a work of art.

In this two-hour workshop Kirsty will lead students through using art as inspiration for your writing, examining different approaches to bring new insights.

You will consider various aspects of visual works of art, imagining who created each individual piece and how it came to be created, considering what story the painting is telling us, the mood and tone of the painting and how you might convey that in words.

Through discussion and exercises, you’ll learn fresh approaches, create new ideas as well as generate new writing. All with the wonderful WLAG community!

All levels welcome & whatever genre of writing you practice whether that’s poetry, short stories, novels or non-fiction, come join us!
